Get Great Gatsby Style for Partnership for Children's Soiree

The annual Soiree for the Partnership for Children of Cumberland County is just around the corner!

This year’s Soiree theme is “Roaring 20’s” in celebration of the non-profit’s 20th anniversary.

It’s all happening Saturday, March 8 at Embassy Suites.

Expect the evening to feature:

·      1920’s music by Orchestra Casablanca, a 13-piece jazz band out of Raleigh

·      1920’s inspired culinary creations from the Head Chef at Embassy Suites

·      Unique raffle items

·      Dance instructors from Roland’s to help guide partygoers through the dance styles of the 1920s

·      Mission moment opportunities

·      And a whole lot of fun!

Don’t worry… since it’s 2014 and no prohibition is going on… the libations will be flowing!

Soiree is black-tie optional and 1920s themed attire is encouraged.

So where can you look for 20s themed garb in Fayetteville to look “hotsy-totsy?”

Thanks to the popularity of last year’s movie remake of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, accessories from that era are an easy find in our area.

As far as decking yourself in flapper fare- you may want to try eBay, Party City, Amazon or any of our awesome thrift and consignment options around town.

Here are a few of my favorite accessories finds from Ethos Boutique on Raeford Road and LOFT, Lane Bryant and Versona Accessories all located at The District of Cross Creek Mall. Newly opened Francesca’s is also a great option for fashionable vintage-style jewelry.  Local favorite Epiphany Boutique also features great accessories at affordable prices. Please check out the photo gallery to see headbands, barrettes, necklaces, rings and bracelets from a few of these fine retailers!

If you’re looking for something totally unique and your own, check out sponsor C.J. Malson’s boutique on etsy.com called “French Fanatic.” A hit among the glam girls in town, MHR Designs in Hope Mills will make custom jewelry to suit your tastes, budget and style.

Multi-talented Taylor Williams at Mopheads Salon on Ramsey Street can customize headwear- a band or turban- to match your dress. Reach her at the salon, 910.884.1274.

Now that you look as if you’ve stepped off the stage of the Ziegfield Follies, what can you do for hair and make-up?

For a truly authentic 1920s look that Zelda Fitzgerald would be totally jealous of, head over to Paul Mitchell Salon where their expert stylists-in-training are providing day-of hair and make-up. Please book your appointment BEFORE March 1 by calling 910.485.6310. Hair and make-up is only $20. Only hair is $15 and only make-up is $10.

Now, head to these local retailers and boutiques and GET GATSBY!
