Golf tournament to support scholarship for Terry Sanford High student

Posted

A golf tournament will raise money to support a scholarship named in honor of a graduate and lifelong educator at Terry Sanford High School.

In 1945, Nancy Hedrick began classes at Fayetteville High School, the forerunner of Terry Sanford High. She went on to become a teacher and administrator at the school, according to a news release.

The Nancy Hedrick Blackmon Legacy Scholarship is awarded each year to a Terry Sanford High graduating senior who is the child or grandchild of an alumnus of the school.

Organizers of the golf tournament have a goal to raise $25,000 to endow the scholarship.

Sponsorships ranging from $150 to $2,500 are available, the news release said.

The tournament will be held at King’s Grant Golf Club. The registration deadline is April 22. To register or for more information, go to https://www.eventcreate.com/e/nhbscholarship.
