Cape Fear Valley Health is marking the 10-year anniversary of Hoke Hospital with a free community health fair.
The fair, held Saturday, will be at Hoke Hospital on Medical Pavilion Drive in Raeford and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Health screenings will be available on-site in addition to family activities and giveaways. Residents can also view vehicles from the Hoke County Sheriff’s Department and Puppy Creek Fire Department, a Cape Fear Valley/Hoke County EMS ambulance and a LifeLink helicopter.
“We are grateful … to have been able to care for the citizens of Hoke and surrounding counties for the past ten years,” Sonja McLendon, president of Hoke Healthcare, said in the anniversary event’s press release. “We invite all of our friends and neighbors to celebrate with us as we enter into a new decade of growing our services to meet the needs of this diverse community.”
Hoke Hospital is a 41-bed hospital with a full emergency department. Its physicians provide primary and pediatric care services, orthopedic and podiatry care, and physical and occupational therapy. The hospital also has imaging, pharmacy and sleep study services.
The hospital has earned two consecutive ‘A’ ratings from a national hospital safety grader, the Leapfrog Group. The safety grader also named Hoke Hospital a top general hospital in 2024.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services also recognizes the hospital’s commitment to patient safety, awarding it a five-star rating every year since 2021. CMS uses metrics like physician communication and complications to determine its rating.
Cape Fear Valley Health broke ground on Hoke Hospital in 2013 as part of a $100 million project to expand care in Hoke County. It was the county’s first full-service hospital and is one of its only two hospitals. The other is FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital – Hoke, an eight-bed hospital also located on Medical Pavilion Drive, which opened in 2013.
