Hope Mills board to hear updates on several projects Monday night

HOPE MILLS - The Hope Mills Board of Commissioners is expected to hear updates on several projects Monday night as part of the town manager’s report.

The board meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

There are no items listed under old or new business on the agenda. There is a closed session on the agenda to “hear reports on investigations of alleged criminal conduct.’’

There are five items listed on the consent agenda. Three of those are to consider approval of the draft of closed session minutes from the Jan. 18, Feb. 21 and March 7 board meetings. A fourth involves consideration to approve the draft of minutes from the regular March 21 board meeting.

The board is expected to hear updates on various topics when Town Manager Scott Meszaros presents his report. Several of them have to do with parks and recreation.

The town is waiting on approved contracts from the contractor’s lawyer before work can begin on the chapel’s restroom building, according to information in the manager’s report in the agenda packet. Those contracts are expected to be submitted to the town in early April.

The town has completed the review of the 75% construction document for the Municipal Park splash pad and inclusive playground by McAdam. It also has submitted a “value engineering plan’’ to make sure the project comes in within budget, according to the manager’s report.

The proposed splash pad and inclusive playground are going to be installed in the dirt area adjacent to the existing playground at Municipal Park.

Lamarco Morrison, director of the Parks and Recreation Department, said the department anticipates the splash pad will be completed by late summer. That is, “if the town receives responsive bids and the project is within the approved budget,” Morrison said.
