HOPE MILLS — A public hearing on annexing 8.33 acres near the intersection of Hunting Ridge and Rockfish roads is on the agenda for this week’s Hope Mills Board of Commissioners meeting.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Town Hall.

The contiguous annexation is within the town limits. If the board approves it, the land owned by Bridgeport Homes will be rezoned by the town and designated as R6 single-family residential.

Anyone who wishes to speak for or against the annexation will have a chance during the hearing but must sign up with the town clerk 15 minutes before the start of the meeting.

Speakers are asked to limit their time to three minutes.

A a couple of notable items are listed on the board’s consent agenda.

It will consider accepting a proposal from Chavis and Sons Masonry to complete concrete sidewalks from the parking area to the new playground and splash pad. The cost must not exceed $15,000. Approval will require a budget amendment.

Also, the board is expected to approve a contract and budget amendment for Debtbook accounting software. This will also require approval of a budget amendment of $14,000.

All items on the consent agenda are expected to pass unanimously.

Under new business, the board will consider approving the revised Part 2 of the code of ordinances Chapter 62 on parks and recreation.

The revisions clarify discrepancies in previous ordinances and update language on hours of operation, proper swimming and sunbathing attire, dogs, and lake attendants.
