The three incumbent Fayetteville City Council members who faced primary elections this year all advanced to Novemberβs general elections, along with newcomers and challengers.
Five of Fayettevilleβs nine city council districts had primaries in addition to the mayoral election. These are Districts 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9.
In Fayettevilleβs elections, the contests are nonpartisan. If more than two candidates file for a seat, there is a primary and the top-two vote-getters advance to the general election.
Tuesdayβs results are not final, and are subject to a canvass scheduled for Oct. 14. The general election is Nov. 4, with early voting starting next week on Oct. 16. In the general election, District 5 incumbent Lynne Greene is the only candidate running unopposed.
