The Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation unveiled the Irene Thompson Byrd Cancer Care Endowment Wall on Feb. 18, 2019, at the Cape Fear Valley Cancer Treatment and CyberKnife Center.
The wall is a new charitable endowment program to help sustain patient programs through the Friends of the Cancer Center.
Byrd is the late wife of Jesse Byrd who was the founder and chairperson of Friends of the Cancer Center Advisory Council. To date, the Health Foundation Friends of the Cancer Center has raised nearly $600,000 through private donations to create the endowment.
