Jack Britt students curate Airborne & Special Operations Museum exhibit

Posted

An exhibit curated by Jack Britt High School students features artifacts from Task Force Dagger, America's military response to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The exhibit at the Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum opened  April 20 and runs through Sept.  3, according to a museum news release.

The museum's curatorial staff collaborated with Jack Britt's social studies department to launch the Curatorial Apprentice program, which provides hands-on experience for students interested in working in museums and learning about curating museum exhibits, the release said.

In addition to their research, students interviewed Task Force Dagger veterans, including members of the Army's 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). They also selected artifacts from the mission; wrote exhibit text; designed the text panels; created an interactive touchscreen program; and installed the exhibit, museum officials said.

Admission to the exhibit is free.
