
Jean Stanley Adkins, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
Jean was born in Richmond County to the late Dosie Stanley and Dezzree Lea.
Jean was the owner and operator of House of Quilting, where she held a patent for her very own quilting thimble. Jean and her husband, James, traveled many miles together promoting her quilting thimble, Finger Saver, and seam gauge.
In her early years, Jean enjoyed gardening. The flowers in her yard resembled a picture from a magazine. She was a wonderful cook and loved baking and at Christmas time you would find her table filled with cookies and other goodies.
The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m.ย Friday, June 30, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death most recently by her husband of 68 years, James A. Adkins; a grandson, Cory Joel Adkins; and her great-grandson, Timothy Caiden Howell.
She is survived by her children, Jeanne Adkins Howell and husband, the Rev. Timothy Howell of Raleigh; James โJimmyโ Adkins of Fayetteville; Judy Adkins Cordova and husband, Adam, of Fruitvale, Texas; and Julie Adkins Busby and husband, Robert, of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Brandon Howell and wife, Amanda; Jennifer Needham and husband, Joshua; April Pratt; Ashlyn Rubio and husband, Kevin; great-grandchildren, Lily, Xander and Liam Howell; and Abby and Evie Needham; sisters, Deddie Wade and Mary Taylor.
