Jimmy Wilburt Teston, 82, of Spring Lake passed away on January 29, 2022 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington.
Jimmy, was born November 23, 1939 in Jesup, Georgia to the late Mary Dyals and Kermit Teston. He is preceded in death by one son, Donald Teston, one brother, Kenneth Teston and one sister Louise Teston.
Jimmy left Georgia and enlisted in the US Army where he served abroad and in the Vietnam War. He was stationed at FT. Bragg, NC. He served in the military for over 20 years retiring in 1979 as Army Ranger Sgt. 1st class from the XVII Airborne Corp.
Jimmy leaves behind his loving wife Barbara Cole Teston and their children Tina Walls, Thomas Teston (Abby), Ronald Teston (Lina), Mary Ann Morris (Jeff), Angela Jackson (Chad), Michael Smith, Christina Hildebrand (Tim), James Teston (Lissa), and; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-granchildren; one brother, Dewitt Teston (Una) and one sister, Faye Thornton (Roger) and their children.
Jimmy was the Assistant recreational director for the town of Spring Lake for many years. He could often be found coaching, umpiring baseball games and refereeing football games. In his free time he enjoyed the quietness of fishing and the competitiveness of bowling. He loved his family and will be missed.
There will be a funeral service honoring Jimmy’s life on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 12:00pm at Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory, Spring Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00am . Burial will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11am Main Post Cemetery, Fort Bragg with military honors.
