Kenneth Norman Bowers passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was 66 years old. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father, John N. Bowers, Jr. and his mother, Mary Ellen Bowers, both of Hollywood, Florida. He was also preceded in death by a very special uncle, Fredrick T. Grimm, and a very special aunt, “Katie” Grimm, both of Oak Harbor, Ohio.

Ken is survived by his wife, Ann; his mother-in-law, Annie Ruth Starling; his nephew, Steven Kordsikowski; and his niece, Ashley Kordsikowski.

Ken was a family man, and a loving husband for almost 34 years. He loved spending time with his wife Ann and traveling when they could. He also loved spending time with his dog Bailey, and the kitty cats. He enjoyed reading, watching college basketball, watching westerns on tv, going to the movies, and doing significant carpentry projects. In his youth he was a boy scout for many years. He became the first Scout Master at Big Rockfish Presbyterian Church.

In the military, he became the Executive Officer for the 105th Engineer Battalion and served as the HHC Company Commander for the National Guard Unit in Reaford, North Carolina. Later he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and continued on as the Engineer Battalion Commander. He was a devout Christian who prayed everyday and kept God in his life. He touched many lives through his years as a teacher, a solider, and a colleague. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.

A funeral service will be held at Big Rockfish Presbyterian Church on February 20, 2026. The visitation will be held in the church sanctuary beginning at 2pm, with the service following immediately after, starting at 3pm.  The Reverend Ron Williams will perform the service. A military graveside service will be held at the Hope Mills Cemetery, located at 4850 Legion Road, Hope Mills, N.C. 28348.
