Linda J McPhail

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Linda Jo McPhail, 71, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at her home. Known by all as a fierce survivor and beautiful inspiration, Linda was the embodiment of kindness and love. She was born in Hope Mills, NC on November 5, 1950, to the late James Sherwood and Euna Earle (Upchurch) Williams. She is a proud 1969 graduate of Fayetteville Terry Sanford. Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen “Dicki.”

Family was everything to Linda and that was evident in all she did. Linda is survived by her lifelong love and husband of 52 years, Gus; her daughter, Michelle Raub and husband, Tom of Roanoke, VA; her son, Jeffrey McPhail and his significant other, Sarah Casella of Fayetteville, NC; six grandchildren, Mackenzie and Katie Raub, Aidan, Addison, Brionna, and Molly McPhail; and so many other dear relatives and friends.

Linda’s love for children and service was evident in her over 20-year career with Cumberland County Schools Child Nutrition Services. She was passionate about her role as Cafeteria Manager for several Cumberland County Schools and met some of her dearest friends through her career.

Family, friends, the beach, beach music, line dancing, lighthouses, pink carnations and decorating the most beautiful Christmas trees were some of Linda’s favorite things. Her love for life was clear in everything she touched.

Visitation Service will be at 11:00 to 11:45 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m., on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center at 1638 Owen Drive Fayetteville, NC 28304.
