Linda Sue Hodgson, 73, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after a brief illness.
Linda was born on April 7, 1952, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Mr. Gayle and Dorothy Fogg Gayle. One of four girls, Linda experienced the loss of her father at a young age, after which her family moved to California. She graduated from Chula Vista High School in 1970. She was also preceded in death by her beloved bonus dad, Manuel Ramerez.
Linda loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Northview Baptist Church. She served joyfully in the Addiction Recovery Ministry, the Nursing Home Ministry, and the Bus Ministry. Known lovingly as “Grandma” to many of the church children, Linda had a heart for nurturing and encouragement that touched countless lives.
A true world traveler, Linda was an avid Disney fan who proudly visited Disneyland, Disney World, and Disneyland Paris, collecting treasured souvenirs along the way. Her favorite way to travel was by cruise ship, and she delighted in taking five cruises in the past year alone.
Linda was a devoted military wife for 22 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert Louis Hodgson; her infant daughter, Faith Anne Hodgson; and her sisters, Betty and Jean.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her children: Chad Hodgson and wife Lori, Dwayne Hodgson and wife Amanda, Brandi Gaines and husband Thomas, Adam Hodgson and wife Mary, Aaron Hodgson and wife Shayna, Alison Hodgson, and Ashley Hodgson. (Her last four children were two sets of twins.) She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Joan Schumate.
A gathering of friends will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. at Northview Baptist Church.
