Malinda Barrington

January 14, 1944 ~ September 21, 2023

Malinda “Linda” Wall Barrington, a devoted Tarheel from Marion, North Carolina, peacefully passed away in her sleep on September 21st, 2023, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at the age of 79. She was born on January 14, 1944, in her beloved hometown of Marion, North Carolina, to parents, Hettie Jo Walker Wall and Walter “FAT” Wilbore Wall.

Malinda's heart was firmly rooted in North Carolina. She cherished the state's picturesque mountains and coastal beauty, but her deepest affection was reserved for her cherished family and friends. In the spirit of her father's entrepreneurial drive, she forged a life for herself and her children in Fayetteville, where she would later meet the love of her life, Carl Adam Barrington Jr.

Though her dream of spending her golden years between the Carolina Mountains and Oriental, NC, didn't unfold as planned, Malinda created her forever home in Marion, offering a breathtaking view of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Every detail of the house, from the red shutters to the crystal door knobs, was carefully chosen. It was in this perfect setting that she decided to embrace her passion for learning by pursuing a phlebotomy career in her 60s, a testament to her enduring spirit.

In her later years, she resided on Yancy Ridge, sharing the company of her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Carolyn Wall, and her two Persian feline companions, Stud Muffin and Sassy.

Malinda was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and sister-in-law. She leaves behind cherished memories and will forever be remembered by her loving children and son-in-law: Alesia & David Dick of Flower Mound, TX, Cynthia Morris Wayne of Flower Mound, TX, and Marcus Townsend of Fayetteville, NC. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Powell Wayne, Daniel Wayne, Malinda “MaDi” Dick, Clara Dick, and Gabriella Dick, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends at 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 7th at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home in Fayetteville, and a graveside service to honor Malinda's life will be held at 3:00 P.M. at Lafayette Memorial Park & Mausoleum.

In lieu of sending flowers, you are welcome to contribute floral arrangements that will be thoughtfully provided by The Downtown Market in Fayetteville.
