Marjorie Jane Auten, 88, of Fayetteville passed away on September 20, 2023. Born on September 10, 1935, to the late, James Keller Plyler and Mary Odessa McManus Plyler in Jefferson, South Carolina.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 68 years, Harry Junius Auten; son, Harry Michael Auten; siblings, Paul Orell Plyler, Kenneth Plyler, Don David Plyler, Tommy Wayne Plyler, and Faye O’Neal Taylor. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Clarence Russell Auten of Fayetteville, NC, Cait Gillis of Beloit, WI, Donna Kay Murphy Halstead (Mike) of Hampstead, NC, Arlene Bradley of Fayetteville, NC, and Patty Baxter of Fayetteville, NC; her sister, Betty Joan Prince of York, SC; grandchildren, Jessica Halstead Goyette, Korey Michael Ryan Halstead, Shannon Avery Halstead, Michelle Percival, Mike Halstead, Jr., and Jennifer Privette; her great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Marjorie graduated from Eve’s College of Hairstyling in Lawton, OK, starting her career as a hairdresser. During her 46 year long career, she owned Margie’s Beauty Salon and was co-owner of The Fountain of Youth, Unique Entertainment Agency and Tri Star Pageants. Marjorie had many adventures in her life, she was a singer with Pat Patterson and The Country Boys in Germany, and part of The Modern Knights in Fayetteville, NC.
Marjorie was a member of The Retired Enlisted Association, and the C.F. Foundation where she held titles including secretary, board member, and fund raiser. She was president and treasurer with the Fayetteville Cosmetology Association and a manager for Dunn Bingo for many years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 12:30 to 1:45 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. Burial to follow the service at Lafayette Memorial Park.
