Marksmen hockey team to take part in College & Career Fair

Cumberland schools, FTCC involved in outreach to 11th-graders

The Fayetteville Marksmen professional hockey team will partner with Cumberland County Schools and Fayetteville Technical Community College to hold a College & Career Fair for 11th-grade students, according to a news release.

The fair will be held from 9:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Crown Coliseum.

Students will attend these breakout sessions:

  • College vendor showcase: Students will meet local and out-of-state school admissions counselors and representatives of trade schools.
  • Panel discussion with local business leaders: Top industry professionals from around the Sandhills will discuss career fields, success in business, and tips for getting ahead.
  • “What Is Life After High School?”: Students will learn about resume drafting, balancing a checkbook, and other skills important for navigating post-high school life.
  • “Chasing a Career in Sports”: Members of the Marksmen team and other local leaders in sports and entertainment will discuss their career paths and the importance of networking and internships.
