CityView invites the Fayetteville community to meet the journalist now leading our local newsroom. Editor-in-Chief Matt Hennie has nearly three decades of local news experience and a deep commitment to the communities he covers.
Hennie cut his journalism teeth covering city hall and school boards in small-town South Carolina, which shaped his entire career. He’s led newsrooms from Georgia to Arizona and launched digital news outlets, always with a focus on local accountability journalism. Now he’s in Fayetteville, believing you can’t write about a community unless you’re living alongside its people.
That means you’ll see him at civic meetings, in the community, and maybe even officiating high school basketball games. He believes journalism should meet people where they are, which is why CityView is hosting events like this one.
