Michael “Mike” John Archambault, 59, passed away suddenly in Winston-Salem, N.C., on March 4, 2023. He was born in Louisville, Ky., and lived in Germany, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Virginia and finally Fayetteville, N.C., where he graduated from Westover High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1982 until 1986 in Texas and Germany before returning to the Fayetteville area. After arriving home, Mike rebuilt a 1969 Chevelle and then decided it was more enjoyable to appreciate good cars than put them back together. He worked in Mercedes-Benz parts sales for 35 years  before retiring and moving to Winston-Salem.

Mike loved cooking, especially meat in any way possible – deep-fried, smoked, grilled, braised, he could do it all to perfection. He enjoyed all sorts of music and shared an appreciation of bluegrass, visiting MerleFest several times with extended family and friends.

There was no friend or family that he would not help; he was the guy that everyone called to help them move, to roof houses, to build fences, or to check on their dogs. Speaking of dogs, he was an equal opportunity lover of both cats and dogs, having cared for many over the years.

Mike was a man who worked hard, but he knew when to sit back with family and friends, teaching us how to enjoy simply being with one another.

He leaves behind his partner of nearly 20 years, Aleta Miller of Winston-Salem; father, Emile “Arch” Archambault of Fayetteville; his brother, Paul, and sister-in-law, Kelly, with niece, Eden, all of Fayetteville; sister, Marie, and brother-in-law, Benjamin Carlson, and their children, Anna, Aidan and Asher, all of Durham, and many extended family and friends who all feel his loss terribly.

A funeral service will be held at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023. A visitation will be held prior from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.. Burial will be held at noon on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Pet Angel Fund at https://cuddly.com/shelter/221134/Pet-Angel-Fund, in Mike’s honor.
