Michael “Mike” Lynn Warren, age 65, of Fayetteville, North Carolina died peacefully Saturday, September 10, 2022, at home surrounded by family.

Mike was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on March 3, 1957, to Elder Lindbergh Warren and Edna Baggett Warren. During his childhood, Mike enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts of America, playing basketball and baseball, and riding around town in his Datsun 280Z. He graduated from Terry Sanford High School in 1975 and completed his B.S. in Business Administration at East Carolina University in 1979. As an ECU Pirate, Mike enjoyed being a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. Upon graduation, Mike served as Inventory Control Manager at J.P. Stevens Textile Manufacturing, during which time he met the love of his life, Donna Hinkamp Warren. After a year of dating, Donna received two of her most favorite and memorable Christmas presents ever – a puppy and an engagement ring. Mike and Donna were married the following year on November 12, 1983 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fayetteville, NC. Mike and Donna were married just shy of 39 years and had two beautiful children, Lindsay and Taylor, which are the light of their lives and their greatest treasures. That is, however, until years later when Mike and Donna welcomed their four grandchildren into the world.

In 1985, Mike began his career as an exclusive insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance. A natural salesman and people person, what started out as a one-man operation soon grew into a thriving family-owned insurance business with four locations and 20+ employees. Thus, Warren Insurance Group was founded, and Mike’s passion for “helping people protect the things they’ve worked their entire lives for” was evident in the way he treated his customers and supported his local community. Mike loved what he did for a living and the relationships he built in his 37 years of business. Mike’s dream of continuing Warren Insurance Group’s legacy and family leadership model came true in recent years with the addition of Taylor Warren, son, and Lindsay Warren Sarff, daughter, as company leaders.

When not in the office, you could find Mike hunting at the farm he co-owned with two of his best friends in Tarheel, NC, on his boat or fishing at his beach house in Topsail Beach, NC, or spending time with family and close friends. Family values were at the heart of everything Mike and Donna did. Not a day went by that they weren’t sharing a family meal together, going to dinner and a movie, visiting grandchildren, or making sure that every family celebration and holiday was special and memorable. Mike and Donna loved the family traditions they shared together and were able to pass down to their own children. Many memorable family moments were shared among the Warren and Hinkamp families, including siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Some of Mike’s favorite times were spent taking Taylor and his nephews on fun hunting trips, enjoying a Coldplay concert with Lindsay, making a coke float with his grandchildren, playing golf with his brother, brother-in-law and best buddies, or spending time on his back patio with extended family and friends. Mike was a member of Haymount United Methodist Church, the Fayetteville Exchange Club, and Highland Country Club. Mike generously supported and contributed to many non-profit and volunteer organizations in his local community, to include Fayetteville Community Concerts and the School of Hope.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, “Lindy” and Edna Warren. He is survived by wife, Donna Hinkamp Warren; daughter, Lindsay Warren Sarff (husband Justin); son, Taylor Michael Warren (wife Lauren); four grandchildren, Michael Francis Sarff, Quinn Elise Warren, Sloane McPherson Sarff, and Wyatt Michael Warren; brother, Marty Davis Warren; and a large extended family.

A Celebration of Life will take place at The Carolina Barn on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 3:30pm, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the School of Hope’s “Hope 200” Capital Campaign (http://www.theschoolofhope.net), a local school serving children with autism that was very dear to Mike’s heart.
