Elgordan Dewit Bishop (aka “SUMO”) age 68 of Fayetteville, NC departed this earthly life and transitioned to his heavenly home on April 19, 2025. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Colvin Funeral Home Chapel, 2010 Murchison Road, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
Elgordan was born on September 17,1956 to James Junior Bishop and Olivia McDonald Bishop in Hoke County. After staying several years in New York, the family relocated to Fayetteville, NC. Elgordan was known for his love of family, friends, and sports. “DEM Dallas Cowboys and Duke” were unmatched in his sight.
Elgordan was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his mother, Olivia Bishop, younger brother James Sheldon Bishop, grandparents Henry and Maggie McDonald, and William and Anna G Hollingsworth. He is survived by his father James Junior Bishop, one son, Elgordan Michael Armstrong Bishop, brothers Chucke (Thelma) Bishop, and Daric (Lana) Bishop. He dearly loved his nephews and nieces, Chuck Jr., Brantley, Jarod, Mishelle, and Sierra and treated them as his own. Other relatives include Uncle and Aunt Vern and Gwendolyn David, additional aunts, uncles, and caring cousins, and friends.
