With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Denise Johnston, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth and light to all who
knew her.
Born to Beatrice Lopes and Howard Johnson, Denise lived a life rooted in kindness, resilience, and connection. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel at easeโno matter where she went, she
made friends effortlessly. To know her was to feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She truly never met a stranger.
Denise built a respected career as a bookkeeper and manager, where she was known for her dedication, dependability, and attention to detail. But her greatest accomplishments were found in the love she poured
into her family. She was the heart of her familyโsteady, caring, and always present.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle; her siblings, Howard, Jimmy, Rita, Beatrice, Mary, Kathy, Debbie, and Patricia; her seven grandchildren, Melissa, Rosemary, Katie, Billy, Jacob, and Hannah; and
her seven great-grandchildren, Lexi, Scarlett, Valerie, James, Aubrey, Micah, and Autumn. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit forward.
Denise will be remembered for her generous heart, her strength, and her unwavering love for those around her. One of her favorite sayings, shared often with her daughter, was, โAlways let the sun shine upon
your face and let the shadows fall behind you.โ It is a reflection of how she lived her lifeโwith hope, grace, and a quiet strength that will continue to inspire all who loved her.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 2nd from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Colvin Funeral Home, 2010 Murchison Road, Fayetteville, NC 28301. Following the viewing, family and friends are welcome to gather
at Michelleโs home.
Though she is no longer with us, her love remainsโguiding, comforting, and enduring in the hearts of her family and friends.
