Lumberton, NC—Odessa Evans McMillan, 74, of Lumberton, NC, died Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Odessa was born on September 27, 1951, to the late Mr. George Robert Evans “Papa Cool” and Mrs. Bertha Cade Evans in Lumberton, North Carolina.
Odessa grew in faith at First Baptist Church in Lumberton, where she was a member under the leadership of Dr. E.B. Turner.
Funeral service will be Saturday, May 16, with visitation of viewing at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral procession at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 504 W 2nd Street, Lumberton, NC 28358. Burial/internment will be at Cade Family Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
She was preceded in death by brothers George Evans, Gary Robert Evans, Larry Eugene Floyd and George Lee Thompson and one son Eric Montreal Evans. She is survived by her daughter Felicia Evans Williams (Russell Williams) of Rockville, MD and Queens, NY; sister Glenda “Dale” Evans Harris of Laurinburg, NC; several nieces and nephews and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Odessa’s daughter kindly asks donations to be made to the American Heart and/or Lung Association in memory of Odessa Evans McMillan.
