Nancy R. Johnson, 82, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, John C. Johnson.
Nancy grew up in Lancaster, PA, and upon graduating from high school attended Pennsylvania State University where she met John and earned a BS in Medical Technology. After raising her three children as a stay-at-home mother, Nancy pursued and was awarded a BS in Nursing from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 1984. She served on the 6th floor as an oncology nurse as well as in Nursing Administration for Cape Fear Valley Medical Center until her retirement.
Nancy deeply loved Jesus and His Word. She loved her home church, Church of the Open Door, her friends there, and her involvement in OWLS, MOPS, ladies’ Bible studies, and the ministry to nursing home residents. Her greatest joy was being Grammy to her seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Nancy touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed.
Nancy is survived by her son, Jeffrey Johnson and wife, Joan of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Cynthia Brock and husband, Lonnie III of Tampa, FL; daughter, Kimberly Founds of High Point, NC; brother, David Navikas and wife, Marie of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Stephen Brock and wife, Brittany of Odessa, FL, David Brock and wife, Elizabeth of Winter Springs, FL, Christopher Johnson and wife, Kaitlin O’Connor of Wilmington, NC, Michael Founds and wife, Victoria MacPhee of Charlottesville, VA, James Brock of Tampa, FL, Meghan Johnson of Carrboro, NC, Emma Founds of High Point, NC; great-grandchildren, Cameron Brock of Odessa, FL and Josiah Brock of Winter Springs, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held at Church of the Open Door at 11 am on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, with Pastor Jon Wixtrom officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
