Good morning. Teeth-chattering temperatures and more than a few inches of snow hit several counties in southeastern North Carolina last night. In preparation for the inclement weather, Cumberland County schools are closed today, and health appointments with the Department of Veterans Affairs are delayed.
While Cumberland County is off to a cold start to 2025, if past climate trends continue, the region is likely to heat up sooner rather than later. Fayetteville experienced its third-warmest year on record in 2024, according to data from the National Centers for Environmental Information.
