
Good morning. April 15 wasn’t just Tax Day. This year, April 15 was also the 100th anniversary of the grand opening of the Prince Charles Hotel — one of downtown Fayetteville’s most-prominent landmarks.
Since before the Hay Street building opened, drama often surrounded it, writes Paul Woolverton. At times the hotel was a beacon of Fayetteville success. FAMPO is a federally mandated and funded transportation planning organization that oversees and coordinates public transportation projects in the Fayetteville area. And a Fayetteville man convicted of murder in Robeson County eight years ago has been exonerated, according to the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission. The decision, made last week, also comes on the heels of a North Carolina Senate proposal to dissolve the commission. More below.

📣 The Cumberland County Senior Democrats are holding a town hall from 4-6 p.m. today at VFW Post 6018 on 116 Chance St. The group hopes to ask questions of Cumberland County’s representatives in Congress (Rep. Richard Hudson of District 9 and Rep. David Rouzer of District 7), though it was unknown as of Monday night if the elected officials will attend or send staff members on their behalf.
