Good morning. Were you at the 2025 Juneteenth Celebration 5K? We may have spotted you for our July magazine’s Seen @ the Scene.

The event sold out at 400 tickets this year, 5 days out from the event, Beofra Manning, the fundraising committee chair of Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and chair for the Juneteenth Celebration 5K, told CityView.

The event was put on by the Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., partnering with Fayetteville Running Club and Cool Spring Downtown District (CSDD). More in today’s lead story.

🚨 The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office sent a reminder on Wednesday to continue to stay alert against jury duty scams. Scammers have been calling community members while impersonating deputies of the sheriff’s office, telling them that they have missed jury duty, have started taking legal action against the community member, and must call back, according to a press release. The scammers have set up a voicemail that mimics that of the sheriff’s office.

“The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER reach out to you by phone or email to request money, credit card information, or sensitive personal details such as your Social Security number or credit card numbers,” the press release says. “Law Enforcement will never ask for electronic money transfers or prepaid gift cards. If you receive any communication like this, it is a scam. Please report it immediately.
