Ok Haw Hopewell, 90, a longtime resident of Fayetteville, NC, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2022, at Wickshire Creek Crossing assisted living facility in Raeford, NC.
Ok was born December 18, 1931, in Kyunggi-do, South Korea. She was one of five siblings. While she was working at the PX in Seoul, she met her future husband, SSG John H. Hopewell (deceased). SSG John and Ok were married for 58 years; Ok became a U.S. citizen in 1969. SSG John Hopewell eventually was stationed at Fort Bragg and together they built their dream house in Fayetteville, NC. Ok retired from the Department of Defense after 20 years of service and then started working for Walmart on Skibo Rd in Fayetteville where she retired after 20 years. Ok loved to plant flowers and maintained a small garden.
Ok wished to be remembered and acknowledged as a hardworking, loyal, unselfish friend and esteemed, respected colleague.
Ok is survived by a sister and nephew both of New York.
A Graveside service will be held at 10 am at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC, on March 9, 2022.
