On Wednesday September 21, Paula, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister left her earthly home for heavens glory. She walks with Jesus now and we are left to mourn her passing.

Paula was born October 11, 1959, in Los Angeles, California to Victor D. and Vida Jean Slain (Russell). Paula was a beautiful blonde baby with curls that framed her chubby little face. She had a favorite plush toy, an owl, she named Cookie. Cookie was the start of Paula’s lifelong love for owls and plush animals. Once while traveling across country, Paula then a toddler threw Cookie out the car window. She cried so much the car was turned around, Cookie retrieved and Paula now happy cuddled up with Cookie for a nap. Paula had Cookie with her long into adulthood. As an adult Paula developed a love for cheetahs and soon her home was arrayed with all thing’s cheetah. Blankets, clothing, shoes, purses, even cheetah pajamas. She had a love for all animals but especially her little dog, Fluffy who she spoiled and lavished with love.

Paula was fourth of six children she was the youngest girl with two younger brothers. Paula in time welcomed two beautiful daughters into this world and in turn they blessed Paula with six grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved them with all her heart. Paula, a woman of faith, will always be remembered for her tender heart, fierce devotion to family and her sense of humor.

Our hearts are broken as we let go knowing she goes to a far better place. She will be greatly missed, fondly remembered, and loved well.

Paula is survived by her daughter, Cassandra Gonzales (Slain) and husband, Louis Gonzales; daughter, Dominique Terrazas; grandchildren, Angelina, Richard, Frankie, Reymond, Jeramiah, and Sofie; sisters, Janice Hamrick, Phyllis Guilbault and husband, Fred, Debbie Johnson and husband, LZ; and brother, Rick Slain and wife, Stacey and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love and kindness in this time of family sorrow. We are grateful for each of you.
