Pine Forest class seeing double with 3 sets of twins among graduates

More than 1,300 high school seniors received their diplomas during five graduation ceremonies on Monday at the Crown Coliseum.

Among them were three sets of twins in the senior class of Pine Forest High School.

  • Kameron and Kennedy Pearson are both scholar-athletes in the Academy of Information Technology, as well as National Technical Honors Society. Kameron was recognized as the 910Preps Athlete of the Week during varsity basketball season. Kennedy is in the top 15% of the graduating class. They plan to attend college together at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
  • John Purcell Jr. has been involved in the agriculture program. His twin, Johnnya Purcell, has been in the Academy of Emergency Medical Sciences. Johnnya is working on her nurse’s aide certification.  
  • LaNaya and LaNiya Sinclair have been involved in culinary arts and dance programs, respectively.

Principal Juele McDonald wished the graduates well on the road ahead.

“Congratulations, seniors, for your perseverance, dedication, determination and tenacity,” McDonald said. “Congratulations for not giving up in the toughest of times and reaching the finish line. Congratulations for years of hard work and staying the course. Tonight, you will become proud graduates of Pine Forest High School, and you will embrace the world to embark upon your new chapter, your new journey, and your new story.”
