Police: Fayetteville woman charged with murder after man hit by vehicle dies

A Fayetteville woman has been charged with murder after police say a man she deliberately hit with a vehicle on Sunday died.

Khaleeta George Gethers, 28, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Jarod Perry, the Fayetteville Police Department said in a release. Perry was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle on the 3500 block of Boone Trail, police said. He was taken to the hospital and later died.

Gethers, of the 3200 block of Sandhill Drive, was previously charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and hit and run, police said. Those charges were dismissed and upgraded to first-degree murder, police said. Gethers is in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
