Police: Woman found dead in Ryan Street residence; suspect in custody


A woman was shot and killed Monday in what the Fayetteville Police Department said was a domestic dispute at a home on Ryan Street.

Police said a man is in custody.

The name of the woman has not been released pending notification of family.

“The preliminary investigation determined there was a domestic disturbance at this location resulting in the suspect shooting the victim," the department said in a news release.

Police were dispatched to the home on the 7100 block of Ryan Street at 3:14 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired, a news release said.

When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. 

An adult male was taken into custody, the release said.

Additional information will be released once it becomes available, police said.
