PWC to vote on proposed increases in electric, water and sewer rates

Newly appointed Commissioner Chris Davis will take oath of office at Wednesday meeting

Posted

Increases in electric, water and sewer rates for Fayetteville residents could be made official as the city’s Public Works Commission will vote on the proposal at its Wednesday meeting.

The proposed rates, which would go into effect in May, are estimated to increase the monthly costs for a typical family by $12.97.

PWC staff have cited inflation for the reasoning behind the increased rates, CityView has reported.

Commissioners will vote on the proposed rates at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday during their regular meeting in the boardroom at the administrative offices, 955 Old Wilmington Road.

The meeting can also be streamed online.

PWC’s new commissioner

After months of debate, the Fayetteville City Council last week appointed former council member Chris Davis as a member of PWC.

Mayor Mitch Colvin will administer the oath of office for Davis on Wednesday.
