Ret. Chief MSGT Robert “Bob” Hathcock, 83, of Linden passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 17, 2023. Bob was born October 10, 1939, in Fort Worth, TX, to the late Clyde and Inez Hathcock. Bob had a distinguished military career, serving in the Air Force for 30 years. After retiring from the military, Bob went on to graduate from Methodist University with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Psychology in 1988. During the second chapter of his life, Bob went on to serve as a substance abuse counselor, ultimately retiring for the final time as the substance abuse and director for Lee-Harnett Mental Health in Buies Creek, NC. Bob worked tirelessly using his skills and influence to help those who were often overlooked and he directly contributed to the recovery efforts of countless people throughout the United States. The highly prestigious Norbert L. Kelly Award of North Carolina was presented to him as nominated by his peers for his tireless devotion and dedication to the field of substance abuse. Outside of his personal life, Bob contributed as a member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church. Bob leaves behind an immeasurable legacy of love, devotion, and compassion for others.

Bob is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Hathcock, his mother Inez Burrough, and his daughter Tami Hathcock. Bob is survived by his loving spouse, Teresa Canady Hathcock; children, Robert, Jr. (Carla), Sheri (Frank), Jason (Kim), Sharon (Randy); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two fur-babies, Sugar and Charlie.

In lieu of flowers the family asks to make donations in honor of Bob’s life to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society in memory of Bob Hathcock at https://www.fapspet.org/. A visitation of friends and family will take place on August 30, 2023 at 10 am and a memorial service will immediately follow beginning at 11am at Adcock Funeral Home. Military Honors will be performed at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at 12 pm.
