Sallie Ann Monroe, 65, of Swanton, Vermont, and later Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed
away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

Born and raised in Swanton, Vermont, and a graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School,
Sallie lived a life defined by laughter, resilience, and an unwavering love for her family. A
dedicated mother to four children and a loving wife to her husband of 37 years, she was the
ultimate rock and the biggest supporter for everyone she knew. To know her was to know her
bright, infectious smile and her comical nature; she could always be counted on to lift the mood
with a corny joke, a warm hug, or a heartfelt “I love you.”

Professionally, her gentle heart and tireless work ethic impacted many. She first shaped young
minds as a preschool teacher, followed by working as a special education support professional
at her alma mater, before dedicating 24 years to a successful career in the banking industry.
She leaves behind a profound legacy of joy, friendship, and a family that will forever miss her
radiant light.

Sallie was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Prouty Sheldon; her father, William
Chapman Sheldon Jr.; her grandson, Xavier Brown; as well as many cherished friends and
relatives.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Donald Monroe, 65, of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her children: sons, Jeremiah Brown (and partner Nikki
Harper) and Jacob Brown; and daughters, Jancie Brown-Davis (and spouse Justin Davis) and
Jazmin Monroe-Richards (and husband Terrance Richards). She is also survived by her brother,
Sanford Sheldon (and wife Cindy) and his children, Ashley and Alee; and her sister, Jennie
Vincelette (and husband Lester) and their children, Joshua and Amanda. Sallie was the proud
grandmother to fourteen grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life: Jerrel, Jrue,
Jenelle, Johonnie, Kynlee, Bethany, Alyssa, Kaleb, Zayla, Jason, Nolan, Adrianna, Isabella, and
Jaxson. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Rogers & Breece
Funeral Home in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
