Sandra (Sandy) Louise Henderson, 82, passed away at Womack Army Hospital on November 3, 2023, at 12:16 pm with her daughter Dawn by her side. Sandra was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles William Henderson; her parents, Phyllis and Louis; stepfather, James; sisters, Marianne, Kayellen, and Maggie; brothers, Jeffery, James, and Louis. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Dawn Henderson and Marianne Peters (Don); grandchildren, Kristina Black (Paul), and Kenneth Henderson (Sarah); four great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis and Holly and brothers, Joseph and Gregory. Sandra was born in Linwood, New Jersey, and grew up in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she worked at Planters Peanut on the boardwalk and at the telephone company. Sandra married the love of her in 1959. Being married to a military man it took her many places, Kentucky, Germany, and Pennsylvania, but North Carolina is where she called home and where she worked at Treasure City in the Pet Department. Sandy loved to crochet doll clothes, collect salt and pepper shakers, puzzles and reading Victoria Holt books. Sandy was an animal lover, especially cats (she raised a lot of them) with a kind and loving heart. Sandy was an amazing mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and mentor. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. There will be a visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Adcock Funeral Home, Spring Lake. A funeral service honoring Sandy’s life will follow the visitation in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Liberty.
