Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Sarah Plyler, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023, in Clayton, NC, at the age of 93 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Patsy Davis (Ron) of Cary, Twyla Ramos (Johnnie) of Fayetteville, and Carol Smith (Willie) of Smithfield; grandchildren: Andrea Gonzalez (Ronalds), Morgan Franklin (David), Tony Ramos, Rhett Smith (Katie), and Kevin Smith (Erin); eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. 

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Eugene Gibson “Buck” Plyler, and sisters, Lillian Wiggins and Janice Newberry.

Sarah was born March 24, 1930, to Wiley B. and Agnes H. Strickland in Fayetteville, N.C.  She graduated from Stedman High School in 1948.  She and her husband owned and operated E.G. Plyler Construction Co. in Fayetteville for over 20 years. Sarah was a woman of tremendous faith and shared her love of Jesus Christ with family and friends.   She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a former member of Temple Baptist Church in Fayetteville.  She served as ,Sunday school teacher, WMU leader, and VBS director.  Sarah was a student of the Holy Bible.  Her family treasures the memory of gathering on Christmas Eve to hear her recite Luke’s story of the birth of Jesus – before any presents could be opened!  She will be remembered by the special name of “Bo” bestowed on her by her oldest grandson, Tony.   

A funeral service will be held at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m.  Wednesday, July 5, 2023.  Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral Home.
