A Saturday morning fire caused “significant damage’’ to several units at The Preserve at Grande Oaks apartments off Morganton Road, the Fayetteville Fire Department said.

The fire was reported at 10:45 a.m. in a unit on Westbury Court, the Fire Department said in a release. Firefighters found smoke inside the apartment and a fire that had traveled into the attic of the building.

The 16-unit building was evacuated. No injuries were reported.

“The fire has caused significant damage to several units and could affect up to 8 of the 16 apartments in that building,’’ the Fire Department said.

The number of units affected and the number of people who might be displaced won’t be known until damage assessments are completed, the release said.

The Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
