Tater bread, chicken and “paster,” and collard greens with chow-chow were on the menu for the Taste of Our Culture tribute to Native American heritage.
The celebration marked American Indian Heritage Month and was sponsored by the Office of Indian Education of Cumberland County Schools, according to a news release.
About 125 school system employees and community members took part in the Nov. 10 observance, which also included a pow-wow.
Trudy Locklear, founder of the school system’s Indian Education Program, and Gordon Jacobs, chief of the Coharie Tribe, were among them, the release said.
