SFC Robert William Wright Jr. (Ret), 77, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022 in his home.
Robert was born November 30, 1944 in Buffalo NY, son to the late Robert William Wright and Eleanor Delores (Schindler) Wright of Warsaw NY. Robert grew up in Wyoming NY and joined the United States Army in 1963. He was enlisted in the 101st Air Assault, Screaming Eagle division, and based at the 82nd Airborne division in Fort Bragg NC. SFC Wright received an honorable discharge after 25 years, 2months, and 17 days of service to his country. Robert received many awards during his military career to include the Purple heart. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister Carol Ann Zeches, and 2 children Robert William Wright Kruppner and Bobbie Joe Wright.
Robert's survivors include his wife of 39 years, Kyong Wright of Fayetteville; a daughter, Bobbie Sue; 7 siblings. Patricia Kruppner, (Perry), Harry (Delores)Wright (California), Lavern (Kim) Wright (Warsaw), Julia Boulden (Warsaw), George (Bonnie) Wright (Pike), Fred (Judy) Wright (Pike), Helen (David) Barkley (Warsaw), along with many nieces and nephews.
Roberts main career was as a paratrooper in the Air assault division of the United States Army. Later in life he volunteered at the Korean Baptist Church in Fayetteville where he would cook for many gatherings.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Fayetteville Korean Baptist Church, 6873 Cliffdale Rd Fayetteville NC, 28314. Funeral Services with Full Military Honors will begin at 7:00 PM following the visitation with Pastor Stanley Hyon officiating.

SFC Wright will be cremated in the care of Lafayette funeral home and a burial at sea will follow on Thursday.
