Mrs. Sidney Sue “Cindy” Buck Giaccone, 72, of Fayetteville, NC, died Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC.

Cindy was born April 24, 1950, in Pitt County, NC to the late Alton Gray Buck and Virginia Dare Winfield Buck.  She was a homemaker.  Cindy was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Giaccone.

Cindy, a true beauty whose passion for southern hospitality and all things festive and creative, was revered by all those who knew her.  Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.  Her home was always a place of gathering and celebration, as well as a second chance for wildlife or strays that often became part of the family.  Her yard was the envy of the neighborhood.  Her love of gardening and nature would occupy her time, but the Fayetteville Area Shag Association (FASA) combined all of her favorite things – the beach, music, dancing, and wine.  She met some of her dearest friends and the love of her life, Steve, while shagging.  She entered in the FASA Hall of Fame in 2006.  She was a warrior, fierce and determined to live life with grace on her terms in the midst of a disease that takes no prisoners.   She was an example of God’s light and love with unbreakable faith, living her life to honor Him.  Hers was a life well lived and her spirit will carry on through all who knew her until we see her again.

Cindy is survived by her partner in life, Steve Dawson; three daughters, Tiffany Laske (and husband Rob), Allison Giaccone, and Rachael Smith (and husband Christian); stepsons, Nick Dawson (and wife Logan) and Matthew Dawson (and wife Soleille); sisters, Wendy McRae, Becky Sisk, and Shelby Buck; grandchildren, Kader, Griffin, Noah, Kennedy, Rose, Olivia, Marie, and Genevieve.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Hay Street United Methodist Church, with a memorial service beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary.  Entombment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park & Mausoleum, 2301 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hay Street United Methodist Church, 320 Hay St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
