Something for Everyone at Latinxs Infuzion’s Fall Festival

You may not be a native of Puerto Rico. Your Spanish may be a little rusty. You may not fully comprehend all the menu items available on the weekends on the family-friendly grounds of Latinxs Infuzion Gift Shop at 5870 Yadkin Road.

None of that will matter one bit. You should go anyway.

“We have something for everyone,” said owner Jose Diaz.

Never is that expected to be truer than for Saturday’s Fall Family Day, scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. In addition to the usual food vendors and children’s play areas, the event will include a costume contest for children and adults with prizes awarded, as well as live music.

And perhaps best of all, Diaz’ wife, Irma Marett Diaz, will be serving up her Sweet Temptations by Marett. Hers is a food truck specializing in ice cream or frappe creations beneath a mountain of sweet treats like brownies, candy, cookies, even a slice of cheesecake, all topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate fudge or caramel.

The Sweet Temptation pina colada frappes are also popular, along with an extensive variety of baked goods and authentic dishes offered on location by friends and family members. Jose Diaz said the gift shop, which is open during the week from Wednesday to Sunday, even offers the services of a machine that turns out homemade guacamole.

The weekends are for the families who come out to order plates of specialties such as Puerto Rican barbecued chicken, chicken lasagna, alcapurria de carne, bacalaitos, fried plantains and chicharrones.

Saturday’s fall festival is likely to be particularly special.

“The place is packed on weekends,” he said. “We always look for the fun. We promise it will be a spectacular day.”
