Son faces murder charge in death of father

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his father following a domestic dispute Monday night, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 10:46 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on the 700 block of Manley Street between a father and son.

The father, Jason Brian Albury, 56, was found unresponsive outside near his residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

The son, 32-year-old Brandon Patrick Sessoms, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for self-inflicted injuries and had surgery, the Sheriff’s Office said. He has been charged with second-degree murder, the release said.

The Sheriff’s Office did not say how Albury died. The incident remains under investigation.
