Young golfer is living his dream

Posted

When 11-year-old Taft Courie of Fayetteville finished third in the U.S. Kids Carolinas Invitational at Longleaf Country Club in Southern Pines, he earned a bid to the U.S. Kids World Championship for the second straight year. This year's event is scheduled July 30.

"This is an amazing event held annually in Pinehurst," said Taft's dad/caddie, David Courie. "It is truly international with over 1,000 kids participating."

Netflix features a movie on the event entitled "The Short Game."

"Taft has watched it over 100 times," David Courie said. "It was a large part of his drive to develop as a golfer."

These young golfers are no jokes.

"We would be embarrassed to carry their bags," one gentleman is quoted as saying in the movie.
