The Last Word: The CityView Heard

By: Tony Chavonne

It’s been more than a year since our management team took over CityView magazine. It’s been an exciting time as we we’ve battled a pandemic and shutdowns, all the while embarking on new initiatives such as the conversion to direct-mail distribution, the startup of four online newsletters each week and new signature events such as Food, Wine & ART and the Power of Giving Impact Awards.

We’ve built a great team with some of Fayetteville’s best journalists and photographers.

We provided a home for Bill Kirby Jr. and Earl Vaughan Jr. to continue their award-winning writing. We’ve shared inspirational stories like those from Athina Gonzales and Ivan Castro. We’ve continued the popular doses of reflections of hometown life with Claire Mullen and Bill McFadyen. We’ve shared compelling images of people and places in our beautiful community. And we’ve helped bring people together to raise $1.2 million for nonprofit organizations in Fayetteville.

Through it all, we have remained committed to our mission to “Inform, Involve, and Inspire.” Together, we are building a community bond.

This month, we are excited to introduce a new program – The Heard – to help us further engage with our committed readers. The Heard is
a new club for all our paid subscribers. The Heard offers opportunities to attend popular community events, take advantage of money-saving
offers and lots of extras. As we begin to move past the pandemic, there will be many events in our community that will give us all the opportunity to reconnect and
recharge. The Heard will be right in the middle of these events and will offer free tickets and extras to its members, including:
• Tickets to Fayetteville Woodpeckers games
• Receptions prior to Community Concerts events
• Tickets to Community Concert events
• Receptions prior to Cape Fear Regional Theatre performances.
• Tickets to CFRT shows
• “Best Seats in the House” seating at Cumulus Media’s Summer
Concert series

Everyone enjoys a deal. The Heard members will have lots of opportunities to save money and get some cool stuff, including a $10 coupon for CityView Store merchandise:
CityView’s The Heard Coffee Cup ($15) and Travel Mug ($15)
The Heard T-shirt ($25)

City View Coffee Cup ($15)
CityView Recipe Book ($10)
• Discounted tickets to CityView events. (20 percent off)
• Free access to digital edition and archives.
Starting this spring, you’ll see members of The Heard at community
events, having fun and celebrating our great community. We want you
to be part of these extras, including:
• Opportunities to meet CityView staff and writers at The Heard social
events.
• May’s DestinationFAY – the Ultimate Insider’s Guide to Life in
Fayetteville – delivered directly to your home
• You will receive a one-year extension to your subscription for every
paid subscriber referral.
The good news is that if you are already a paid subscriber, you are automatically a member of The Heard and will be hearing from us soon
to provide you exciting opportunities for events, offers and extras. Our inaugural Ladies Night Out event is April 22 at the Carolina
Barn at McCormick Farms. The Woodpeckers start playing in May, and the first CFRT performance is scheduled for June. The Summer Concert
series begins on May 28, and Earth, Wind and Fire is already scheduled for Community Concerts in October. We look forward to seeing you and all The Heard members at these exciting events as we move to putting COVID in the rear-view mirror! Don’t get left out of the fun!
