Dorothy McNeill Kennedy, age 91, departed this life for her heavenly home on Friday, May 3, 2024.
Dot graduated from Carthage High School and Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Her nursing career began at Moore County Hospital prior to service as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. Dot concluded her nursing career at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother. She was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, at 12 noon at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel and officiated by the Reverend David Woodhouse of Hay Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pauline McNeill; her brother, G.C. McNeill, Jr; and her husband of 48 years, Edward J. Kennedy.
She is survived by her son, Charles and his wife, Kathy of Fayetteville; her daughter, Anne Chalk, and her husband Kevin of Pinehurst; sisters, Vivian Fields of Newport News, VA and Marie Dyke of Williamsburg, VA; her grandchildren, Kyle Kennedy of Fayetteville, and Casey Kennedy of Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hay Street United Methodist Church Building Fund, 320 Hay Street, Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
