Ronnie Francis Thompson, age 78, of the Gray's Creek Community near St. Paul's, passed away peacefully at his home on April 12, 2024. He was born on September 17, 1945, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to the late John Francis Thompson and Thelma Mae Crawford.

Ronnie was a devoted husband to Pyong Tok Thompson for the past 43 years and together, they shared a life filled with unwavering love and cherished memories.

Ronnie answered the call of duty to serve his country after graduating high school and joined the Army, where he served with honor and distinction for 20 years, reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a valued soldier in the Green Beret Division of the Special Forces. After retiring from the Army, he pursued his education with dedication, achieving an Associate Degree in Horticulture where he and his wife followed their passion and started a small horticulture business.

Throughout his life, Ronnie was known for his unwavering commitment to his family and his country. He possessed a strong work ethic and loyal dedication to his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Ronnie always enjoyed being outdoors and loved to garden, fish and work with his hands. He was very handy and skilled at fixing things.

Ronnie was predeceased by his parents, sister Brenda E. Thompson, and brother Larry G. Thompson. He is survived by his Wife-Pyong T. Thompson, Daughter- Allena T. Ball, Son in Law-Jerry F. Ball, Sister-Sandra T. Shifflett, Brother in Law- Pyong K. Cho, Sister's in Law- Pyong Y. Cho and Soonie Cho along with his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.

Though he has left this world, Ronnie's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A service will be held on April 26, 2024, at 10 AM at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery to celebrate Ronnie's life and honor his memory.

Ronnie, Your presence will be greatly missed, but your memory will forever be cherished.
