Wynona ((Harding)) Blount

Wynona Harding Blount, 92, of Fayetteville passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Elizabethtown Nursing Center.

Wynona was born on December 10, 1931, in Cumberland County, to the late Lester A. Harding and Cora Hicks Harding.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Theodore Blake “Dick” Blount, Jr. and her brother, Lester A. Harding, II

Wynona was a 1949 graduate of Fayetteville High School and attended Flora McDonald Women’s College before meeting and marrying the love of her life. She was a volunteer for the Cumberland County Council of Older Adults, and she served for 7 years with the Motor Meals Program.

She was member of Victory United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also a member of The Eastern Star and multiple Bridge Clubs.

She retired after 30 years of service from Carolina Telephone, where she was a member of REACT. White Lake became her second home and she enjoyed reading while sitting out on the pier. Wynona and Dick enjoyed traveling throughout their years together.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-1:50 pm

She is survived by her sons, Ted Blount (Robyn) and Tim Blount (Tammy); grandchildren, Lauren Blount-Klein (Ben), Travis Blount (Elizabeth), Tyson Blount Jones (Max); great grandchildren, Eleanor Frances Jones, Max Frederick Jones IV, and Jackson Baker Blount.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Victory United Methodist Church, 404 Quality Road, Fayetteville, N.C. 28306.
