Joshua Aaron Richardson, 41, was arrested Tuesday in Houston and charged with first-degree murder in the May 31, 2010, death of Terrance Omar Plummer Jr.
Richardson was an active-duty soldier stationed at Fort Bragg at the time of Plummerโs murder, a news release said.ย
Plummer was stabbed multiple times while inside a residence in the 300 block of Rhew Street, the release said. Fayetteville police officers found him dead about 8:40 a.m.ย
Forensic evidence was collected and preserved from the crime scene to be examined later. The case went unsolved in 2010, but as technology improved, the forensic evidence identified Richardson as the suspect, the news release said.
Other law enforcement agencies assisted with the investigation, including the Army’s Criminal Investigations Division on Fort Bragg; the Wharton County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office; and the Houston Police Department, the release said.
Richardson, whose current home is in the 4000 block of Main Street in Houston, was booked into the Harris County, Texas, jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Fayetteville. ย
