Matt joined CityView as editor-in-chief in January. He’s worked as a reporter and editor focused on local news for nearly 30 years in several states, including Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, South Carolina and Texas. His experience includes leading the newsroom of Phoenix New Times, an alt-weekly in Arizona, and founding Project Q Atlanta, a digital news site covering LGBTQ+ issues in Georgia. He’s a longtime high school sports official.

Talmadge Rogers
Director of Operations & Sales
Talmadge is the Director of Operations & Sales at CityView, joining the team in May 2024. He brings extensive experience in sales, digital marketing and business operations, previously serving as a Key Account Manager at Gannett/USA Today, where he excelled in account management and strategic growth. A native of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Talmadge is a proud graduate of South View Senior High and UNC-Pembroke. He is married and has one daughter.

Valeria Cloës
Magazine Editor and Lead Copy Editor
Valeria Cloës is the magazine editor and lead copy editor for CityView Media. She is a graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill and its Hussman School of Journalism and Media, and has worked across daily and weekly news publications, like the Daily Tar Heel and the Chatham News + Record (under Bill Horner III), and magazines, like Coulture Magazine and Triangle Media Partners’ Chapel Hill, Durham and Chatham Magazine, and Heart of NC Weddings. She is trilingual, speaking fluent Spanish, French and English, and has lived in Argentina, France and multiple cities across the United States. Valeria loves baking, listening to music and traveling.

Paul Woolverton
Senior Reporter
Paul Woolverton comes to CityView from The Fayetteville Observer, where he worked for more than 30 years and covered crime, the justice system, the legislature, agriculture, local and state politics, and numerous other subjects, and also was a photographer. He previously was with the StarNews in Wilmington, and while in college at NC State worked at Technician (the campus newspaper), WKNC radio, WPTF radio, and The News & Observer. In his free time, Paul performs and volunteers with the Sweet Tea Shakespeare community theater troupe in Fayetteville.

Rachel Heimann Mercader
Government Reporter
Rachel Heimann Mercader is CityView‘s government reporter. She has reported in Memphis, the Bay Area (California), Naples (Florida), and Chicago, covering a wide range of stories that center community impact and institutional oversight. Her previous investigative reporting has exposed corruption within local governments and unmasked sexual abuse scandals in a public school district, holding powerful institutions to account and amplifying the voices of those impacted. Just prior to joining CityView, she earned her master’s degree from Northwestern University and served as a reporter for the Illinois Answers Project, a nonprofit investigative newsroom dedicated to watchdog journalism across the state.

Dasia Williams
Education Reporter
Dasia Williams is CityView‘s K-12 education reporter. She graduated from North Carolina A&T State University in May 2024 with a degree in multimedia journalism. Before joining CityView, she investigated historically Black colleges and universities at Open Campus Media and has written for The Charlotte Observer. She also previously worked as a digital content producer at the Chattanooga Times Free Press. Off the clock, she enjoys cafe-hopping and reviewing coffee shops across North Carolina.

Morgan Casey
Health Reporter
Morgan Casey is a health reporter at CityView and Report for America corps member. She graduated from Arizona State University in December 2023 with a master’s in investigative journalism. Prior to coming to CityView, she has conducted team investigations into American lithium mining, Catholic health systems and the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners. She is also a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a Baltimore, Maryland native. Off-the-clock, you can find her catching up on professional track and field, watching anime or reading a book at one of downtown Fayetteville’s local coffee shops.

Dawn Denham
Sales Account Executive
Dawn Denham is the Sales Team Leader at CityView Media. A lifelong resident of Fayetteville, she has two daughters, Samantha (husband, Bobby) and Natalie (husband, Fletch), and two grandchildren, Max and Charlie Grace. Dawn has been in the marketing/advertising industry since 2000, beginning her career with The Fayetteville Observer. She has worked in radio, billboards, and the Yellow Pages. In her free time, Dawn loves spending time with family and especially watching her grandson play baseball.

Caitlin Malson Lerario
Administration and Operations Coordinator
Caitlin is the Administration and Operations Coordinator at CityView and The Assembly. She joined the team in August 2024. Before CityView, she worked in photo production at MillerKnoll. A Fayetteville native and a graduate of Terry Sanford High School and UNC Charlotte, Caitlin now resides in Winston-Salem, N.C.
