A New York man driving a motorcycle was killed in a traffic collision that shut down Yadkin Road on Thursday evening, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
The crash was reported about 8 p.m. in the 5800 block of Yadkin Road, according to a news release.
The man was identified as Aaron Rathman, 21, of New York, according to an updated news release issued Friday.
All lanes of travel were temporarily closed Thursday evening on Yadkin Road, including the area from Bonanza Drive to Horseshoe Road. They were reopened about midnight.
Investigators said Rathmann was driving a blue motorcycle on Yadkin Road toward Skibo Road. A red sport utility vehicle traveling in the opposite direction was making a left turn, and the two vehicles collided.
Rathmann was pronounced dead at the scene.
